Visiting the white house

Usual breakfast then by car to Agra.

Every hotel has very strict security measures reqiring all hand bags to be Xrayed, even though there are no personnel actually looking at the screen-this is followed by a rugged internal examination.

We arrive safely due to the endeavours of our driver, the aptly named Mr Singh.

We stop off at a restaurant which I initially picked as a multiethnic tourist trap but served absolutely delish food.

Then it is time for sightseeing; first of all the Agra Fort, home to the Moghul emperors,

then off for the money shot, the Big Taj. It was eerily quiet apart from the shouting 50 thousand other tourists. I must admit though that it was stunningly beautiful and should be on everybody's to see list.

Afterwards our guide takes us off to our favourite tourist activity: the visit to the handcraft centre( he did want to take us off to 2 others). We have the usual demonstration of ancient skills, followed of course by the hard sell(Of course sir we can send all items to Australia)-I get a free cup of chai and we buy nothing.

No dinner tonight, still stuffed from lunch.
